What is a Dental Crown?

Dental crowns are personalized restorations that are designed to protect, strengthen, and improve previously decayed or damaged teeth. Each cap will be constructed based on impressions that our team will take of your mouth. This will allow your crowns to be perfectly shaped to blend in with the rest of your smile. While these restorations are mainly reserved for repairing mildly to moderately compromised teeth, they can also be used for cosmetic purposes.

The Dental Crown Process

To begin your treatment, you’ll first come to our office so that our team can conduct an initial consultation, which will focus on assessing your oral health and determining the root of your dental problem. Once we’ve understood the issue, confirmed that you’re free of any complications, and planned how a dental crown can resolve it, we can start the process by selecting the desired color for your restoration, removing a small amount of your enamel to make room, and taking impressions of your tooth to send to a dental lab.

While you wait for your crown to be completed, you’ll wear a temporary one to protect your exposed natural tooth. Once it’s ready, you’ll return to us to have your permanent dental cap fitted. If all is well and you’re happy with your treatment, you’ll be free to make the most of your restored smile.
